Cortège is the entrance of all the professors of the university in their dresses (Talar/Robe) during special happenings, significant events. In this case the 70 year Lustrum of the State Univiersity of Utrecht.
During this entrances very often a piece of music is played, when in a church mostly organmusic. For this special occasion they asked me to write something special, as normally they used some piece of Brahms.
It was quite an experience I will never forget. The original piece was a little bit longer than it is now (8 minutes) and the large church was filled with organ and trumpet sounds, like hell would break loose.
There was a speech, special persons were given a Laureat etc.
