Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk was born im Amsterdam in 1955. Educated as a pianist and musicologist, he is a selftaught composer of wide artistic taste. Van Nieuwkerk’s recorder music has not only been recorded by major ensembles like La Fontegara Amsterdam, Ensemble Dreiklang Berlin, Brisk Recorder Quar-tet and the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet, but is also enjoyed and played by amateurs worldwide. His love for combining different styles and idioms, seri-ous and popular, Western and non-Western, is quite apparent from these ‚Re-corders without Borders‘, of which more are to follow!
